capture the moment with CHRIS BROWN

Chris Brown's debut single "Run it!" topped the charts, making Brown the first male artist to have his debut single top the chart since Montell Jordan in 1995.

Early Life

Born as Christopher Brown on May 5, 1989 in Tappahannock, Virginia,to Joyce Hawkins, a former day care center director, and Clinton Brown, a corrections officer at a local prison. The younger child of the couple, he has an older sister, Lytrell Bundy, who works in a bank.

Chris was drawn to music since his childhood and was heavily influenced by the sounds of Michael Jackson, Aretha Franklin, Stevie Wonder, and Anita Baker. However, it was not until the age of 11 that he actually possesses an amazing voice, thanks to his mother who quickly noticed her son's talent after she heard him singing around their house. Encouraged by this supportive woman to see some local producers, the thirteen-years-old boy

satisfyingly made his way to get the attention of a small production team so that they agreed to help him record a few songs as his demo. "There were ups and downs," he described the process. "But I loved it and I knew I wanted to do it."

Career

Convinced that he could flourish his career in New York City, Chris went to this dazzling metropolis with the companion of his team. Trying to look for a reliable record company, he finally got the chance to audition in front of Tina Davis and Antonio "L.A." Reid of Def Jam.

Impressed with his talent, Davis, who later resigned from the label, afterwards signed to be his manager and took him to other companies, like Warner Bros, Atlantic, and Jive which he finally concluded to join in. Following this, he then put full concentration to work on his first album, recording almost 50 songs over six months. From those compositions, roughly 15 tracks were picked to be inserted in this initial effort, including "Run It!" which successfully became a hit all over U.S.

The accolades continued with his 2007 sophomore album Exclusive, which reached platinum-plus status and spawned the #1 smash hits “With You,” “Forever,” and “Kiss Kiss” (featuring and produced by T-Pain). He was the most nominated artist at the 2008 Teen Choice Awards (with eleven nominations) five of which he won including Choice Music Male Artist. He also was awarded three 2008 American Music Awards (Favorite Male Artist-Pop, Favorite Male Artist-Soul/R&B Music, and well as Artist of the Year (also named by the same title by Billboard Magazine)), four 2008 BET Awards (including Best Male R&B Artist and Best Collaboration with T-Pain for “Kiss Kiss”),

an MTV Video Music Award (Best Male Video for “With You”), a 2008 NAACP Award for Outstanding Male Artist, a 2008 World Music Award for World’s Best Male R&B Artist, and also two more Grammy nominations including Best Male R&B Vocal Performance for “Take You Down.” Early this year he took home two People’s Choice Awards (including Favorite Male Singer).

In Brown’s Graffiti, the writing on the wall is unforgettable—a dizzying journey across the musical spectrum, as he explores the ups and downs of life lessons learned. “[Graffiti’s] got all different shapes and sizes and colors, so that’s what my music brings — different feelings, different emotions. It brings different genres of music together all in one," Brown told YRB Magazine.

The new album features collaborations with fellow platinum artists Lil Wayne and Swizz Beatz (“I Can Transform Ya”) as well as hit songwriter/producers Polow Da Don (“So Cold,” “Wait”, “Gotta Be Ur Man”, “I Love U”), The Runners (“What I Do”), Ryan Leslie (“Famous Girl”), and Brian Kennedy (“Pass Out,” “I’ll Go”).

Futuristic funk dazzles on his first single "I Can Transform Ya," featuring Lil Wayne and producer Swizz Beatz, making for an imaginative club banger and immediate showstopper in its debut on the Billboard charts. In stylistic contrast, his second single “Crawl,” produced by Adam Messinger and Nasri Atweh, begins with Brown’s voice preeminent as the orchestral builds in a tender ode to love lost. “Why did I change the pace?/ Heart were never meant to race.” The growth of his voice is evident in his full-bodied tenor.

“What I Do” featuring Plies, changes up the vibe, invoking the saucy, romantic side of Brown, accentuated by his quick-witted flow and Plies’ finesse. Following this trajectory is “Sing Like Me,” a melodic, whimsical flirtation produced by Big Makk, as Chris playfully serenades the ladies. Brown advances to the bedroom with “Take My Time,” featuring Tank, in a slow burner that recreates a moment of intimacy accentuated by producer Da Bizzness’s sexy backdrop. “I want to take my time/ I want to do you right,” Brown reveals.

Yet, this is a Chris Brown album, which means there is a time to dance. Dance-floor compatible “I.Y.A.,” an acronym for “In Your Arms,” is nostalgic tip of the hat to the synth era with distinctive Chris Breezy inflection. The club won’t be able to resist the call of “Wait” with Trey Songz and Game chiming in for pure undeniable party music.

Brown's 2011 album F.A.M.E. went Gold after three weeks of it's release.

Brown received the most awards at the 2011 BET Hip-Hop awards in October. He won 3 awards, including Best Hip-Hop Video for "Look at Me Now," Best Collaboration: Chris Brown feat. Busta Rhymes in "Look At Me Now," and the People's Champ Award for "Look at Me Now.".

Brown's album 'F.A.M.E.' won the 2011 Soul Train Award for Album of the Year.

His album 'F.A.M.E' has earned him 3 Grammy Award nominations at the 54th Grammy Awards for Best R&B Album, Best Rap Performance and Best Rap Song for "Look at Me Now".

Was named the #1 Top R&B/Hip-Hop Songs Artist of the Year (2011) by Billboard. He also ranked #10 in Billboard's Best of 2011 Top Artists.

His song "Look At Me Now" charted #3 on Billboard's Best of 2011 R&B/Hip-Hop Songs, while his songs "She Ain't You" charted at no. 10 and "No Bs" charted at no. 17.

His album "F.A.M.E" charted as #8 on Billboard's Best of 2011 Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums.

His song "Look At Me Now" was named #9 on Billboard's "Critics' Choice: 20 Best Singles Of 2011".

Won a Grammy Award in 2012 for Best R&B Album. He received 3 nominations at the 2012 Grammys, and took home the award for Best R&B album for "F.A.M.E." Brown also performed at the 2012 Grammy Awards.

In 2012 he collaborated with Rihanna. On February 20 2012, Rihanna released the remix of her song 'Birthday Cake', featuring Chris Brown. While Brown also released a remix of his song 'Turn up the Music' featuring Rihanna.

Relationship History

present relationship: Chris Brown is dating Karrueche Tran

A source close to Chris tells, “I don’t know man, I guess the [boy] feels SAFE with K.T. No problems and s–t except for when he booted her for a few days. But other than that, they really don’t fight and s–t. She’s cool. She listens to him and the one thing she don’t do that Ri-Ri did was mouth the f–k off. He can’t stand a b–ch that be doing that – all that loud mouth talking and being extra with everything. I’m not dissing Ri-Ri or anything, so don’t even make me come off sounding like that or else. He loves that girl and she loves him. But K.T. is chill. They really do get along and she not extra. She’s calm as f–k.”

2008-2009 Chris Brown dated Superstar Rihanna

After losing the Best Rap/Sung Collaboration Grammy to Rihanna, Brown is romantically linked to the beautiful songstress. "He's one of my closest friends in the industry," Rihanna told Allure in January. "He makes me feel like a teenager. I have to act and think like an adult so much. He makes me feel young again." In February, the pair is spotted awfully close in a pool in Jamaica.

Dark side

Brown Allegedly Beats Rihanna in a domestic violence drama that results in Brown, 19, being charged with two felonies in the alleged beating of his girlfriend. A week after the incident, Brown says in a statement, "Words cannot begin to express how sorry and saddened I am over what transpired." In June, he's sentenced to five years probation and 180 days of community labor.
